“Even in ‘traditional’ classical
music, there are creative people
who create something new.”
Dear friends,
I am over the moon to announce the release of my debut album TRANSFORMATION! Recording an album with orchestra has always been my childhood dream. What a luxury to be able to accomplish this milestone in collaboration with wonderful artistic friends!
What's more, I was able to include another passion of mine into this album: sound engineering! Recording Heitor Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 on my own was a big challenge. I spent almost a week all by myself in a small chapel at Schloss Walpersdorf in Lower Austria. There, I recorded all of the nine voices one by one in overdubbing, while editing and producing it all at the same time. This is definitely my personal highlight of this album - but don’t tell anyone! 😉
The rest of the programme is very close to my heart and goes back to music that I worked on almost ten years ago with my former teacher Heinrich Schiff (Tchaikovsky’s Rococo-Variations and Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne). In addition, I decided to record the hauntingly beautiful Trauermusik by Hindemith, which I "borrowed" from the viola repertoire.
I am so grateful to all the people who made this project possible, first and foremost my close friend and colleague Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn.
I hope you all enjoy this album as much as we did recording it!
