Debut Album TRANSFORMATION out now

Dear friends,

I am over the moon to announce the release of my debut album TRANSFORMATION! Recording an album with orchestra has always been my childhood dream. What a luxury to be able to accomplish this milestone in collaboration with wonderful artistic friends!

What's more, I was able to include another passion of mine into this album: sound engineering! Recording Heitor Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 on my own was a big challenge. I spent almost a week all by myself in a small chapel at Schloss Walpersdorf in Lower Austria. There, I recorded all of the nine voices one by one in overdubbing, while editing and producing it all at the same time. This is definitely my personal highlight of this album - but don’t tell anyone! 😉

The rest of the programme is very close to my heart and goes back to music that I worked on almost ten years ago with my former teacher Heinrich Schiff (Tchaikovsky’s Rococo-Variations and Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne). In addition, I decided to record the hauntingly beautiful Trauermusik by Hindemith, which I "borrowed" from the viola repertoire.

I am so grateful to all the people who made this project possible, first and foremost my close friend and colleague Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn.

I hope you all enjoy this album as much as we did recording it!

Schumann Concerto & Bottesini Gran Duo in Fürth

“In close partnership with the orchestra, Fliedl impressed the audience with a calm, serene and tonally refined performance, in which he did not shy away from a highly romantic gesture.”

“In enger Partnerschaft mit dem Orchester begeisterte Fliedl durch eine gelassen abgeklärte, klangsinnlich ausgefeilte Wiedergabe, in der er dazu den herausfahrend hochromantischen Gestus nicht scheute.”

Review of the Queen Elisabeth Competition Final

“In the Schumann Concerto, Fliedl brought out a real sense of storyline, unafraid to push past a beautiful sound when the music demanded it as he moved between magnetic pianissimos and moments of impassioned madness.”

"Im Schumann Konzert zeigte Fliedl ein echtes Gespür für die ‘Storyline’ und scheute sich nicht, über einen schönen Klang hinauszugehen, wenn die Musik es verlangte, während er sich zwischen ergreifenden Pianissimi und Momenten leidenschaftlichen Wahnsinns bewegte."
